The Great Wall of Lucy Wu by Wendy Wan-Long Shang

11 year-old Chinese-American and basketball player Lucy Wu plans for a great sixth grade year, finally getting her own room and her own life. Things don't turn out as planned when her great-aunt Yi-Po arrives from China to share her space. Will delicious dumplings be enough to fix a tough situation?

  1. The Great Wall of Lucy Wu by Wendy Wan-Long Shang, is such a great book. I really liked the book because Lucy gets her own room, but then had to share it with her great-aunt. I would totally like to do that. My favorite part was when Lucy’s great-aunt Yi-Po made all the delicious Chinese food. I didn’t like it when Lucy refused to go Chinese school which reminded me of when I didn’t go do something very important. If you want more information, read the book to find out!

  2. The Great Wall Of Lucy Wu is a book full of blossoming friendships and challenges. Basketball star Lucy Wu faces the threat of her birthday being ruined and her basketball reputation becoming demolished when great-aunt, Yi-Po comes for a surprise visit from China. Even worse Lucy is forced to go to Chinese School, one of her worst fears. Could things go wrong much more? This incredible book promises a poetic spin and many experiences to relate to.

  3. The book I read is called “The Great Wall Of Lucy Wu” by Wendy Wan-Long Shang. Lucy was excited about her school year because her sister was going off to college to teach Chinese to people. That means she gets to have her own room because she and her sister use to share a room together. Her great aunt comes to visit from China, and has to share a room with her. Lucy thinks her sixth grade year is going to be ruined but it turned out Yi Po made it better! My favorite part in the book is when Lucy’s great aunt Yi Po comes and helps her win the sixth grade basketball game by voting for her and bringing in a lot of food.
