  1. I really loved this book because of the story about Melody's struggles and how she fought through them. It was a phenomenal story and I want to read it again.

Melody cannot talk, walk or move her body correctly, but the one thing in her body that really works is her brain. She remembers everything and is very smart but nobody knows that. One day she passes a test and is granted access to enter a contest of the smartest people in the schools in her area. Will Melody and her team win? Will people find out how smart she is? You can find all this out in Out of my Mind.

My favorite part is when Melody and her teammates are in the contest and are answering questions and are hoping g that they will win.It is a very tense, suspenseful, and exciting part of the book.

  3. Eleven-year-old Melody goes to a normal public school and lives in a normal house, but she also lives with one big obstacle- cerebral palsy, a birth defect, which prevents speaking and most body movement. But just because she is special needs, doesn’t mean she’s not smart. What you don’t know is that Melody also has a photographic memory- she can remember almost every day of her life! She’s practically the smartest kid in her school! But people are constantly underestimating her, especially when she wants to join the Whiz Kids (a team of super-smart students.) Will Melody find a way around cerebral palsy? Will technology change her life forever?

  4. I read “Out Of My Mind” by Sharon M. Draper. Out of my mind is about a girl named Melody. Melody has cerebral palsy, a disease which doesn’t allow her to walk or talk. But Melody is a genius. Although, she is stuck in room
    H-5.
Melody’s parents and their neighbor Mrs.V all recognize her true potential. All the docters believe she is legally mentally retarded. This book is about Melody’s struggles and life. I highly recommend this book.

  5. Out of my Mind is a book about a girl named Melody who is underestimated due to a rare disorder called cerebral palsy. Probably cursed for life, Melody attends a center for disorders but one day enrolls into a real 6th grade class. There she meets a friend and she discovers something that could change her life forever. This book has drama, betrayal, and friendship. One of my favorite books ever!

  6. Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper is a mind blowing book about a girl named Melody who has cerebral palsy. Because of that, she can’t move or speak. No one can understand Melody, so they assume she’s not smart, but she’s the smartest kid in her school. She’s a misunderstood genius but there’s no way to tell other people. Will Melody ever be able to communicate with the outside world? My favorite part of the book is when Melody faces the problem of not being able to get to the academic decathlon.

  7. My book is Out Of My Mind. The characters are in the book are a girl named Melody, her and mom and dad, and her sister. I think this book very exiting. You never knew what would happen next. Melody can’t speak or walk. She can’t express herself either because her movements are very jerky. I like this book because it can really happen. It’s about how some people struggle everyday.

  8. In “Out of my Mind”, Melody Brooks – can’t talk, can’t walk, can’t write, she can’t even go to the bathroom without assistance – she is almost eleven. Melody can’t express herself in any way and she is going crazy because of it and no one can, or really would, blame her. One thing only she knows could be the best or maybe biggest quality she has – a photographic memory. She’s taking pictures and videos of every little and big thing she sees and hears. Melody is crazy smart and she can’t tell or express it to anyone. Eventually, she may have a chance at showing her true inner self, but you can’t be sure that is what everyone wants.

  9. The book “Out of my Mind” by Sharon M Draper is about a girl named Melody whose body is disabled. She is probably the smartest girl in her school but no one knows because she can’t say a single word. I love this book! I like it because was very well written and I loved how it was written in problem and solution. I felt bad for Melody but in the end it turned out all right. This book is probably the best book I have ever read!
